Competitive Testing

What is Competitive Testing?

This delta testing use case is utilized to research and test competitors' products with potential customers to make sure you have product-market fit and differentiation in your product specifications. (Also known as Centercode Competitive Edge).

What is the objective of competitive testing?

Product teams and organizations use competitive testing to understand the market landscape and improve their offerings with insights from competition.

Commonly product teams use competitive testing to answer questions like:

  • What are the strengths and weaknesses of our competition?
  • How do customers view the key differentiator of our product?
  • How does our product compare to the competition?
  • What are the opportunities in a new or existing market we aren't involved in?

Types of competitive testing

Competitive testing can come in a few flavors depending on what stage you are in within product development.

New market entry is a common use case for competitive testing. Testing the current top products, which will be your future competition, evaluating their strengths and weaknesses and identifying how to carve out a niche in the market.

Comparative or competitive benchmarks are used to compare your product to the competition. This provides customer sentiment on product differentiators so you know how well your product stands out. It also provides deep insights into feature gaps and the competition's strengths and weaknesses.
